ITINERARY

DAY 1 – DURHAM REGION TO NEW YORK CITY (Sat. Feb. 21)

After making several stops in Durham Region, we travel to New York City, with regular comfort stops along with way. Once we have arrived in New York City and checked into our hotel near Times Square, you will have time to get dinner on your own and you’ll be free to explore Times Square.

DAY 2 – EMBARK ON OUR CRUISE TO THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS (Sun. Feb 22)

Today, after a lovely included breakfast, you will be treated to a city tour by a local guide to see the popular sights of New York City. Next, we will be transferred to the New York City pier to board the Norwegian Breakaway, our home for the next 12 days. You will have time to settle into your cabins and get something to eat before our ship sets sail. Make sure you are up on the top decks when the ship leaves New York harbour at 4 pm. You won’t want to miss New York’s iconic sites, including the Statue of Liberty, as the ship sails by and heads to the ocean.

DAY 3 – AT SEA (Mon. Feb. 23)

Relax and enjoy the beautiful ocean as we sail to the Caribbean. Norwegian Breakaway combines the most magnificent amenities Norwegian Cruise Line has to offer. Stroll The Waterfront, an innovative, industry-first open-air promenade designed to connect guests with the ocean like no other cruise line. Experience the thrill of five water slides, and three levels of action-packed activities in the sports complex. The excitement and entertainment continue with a Broadway Series: 80’s Edition. Get ready to explore the silky sand beaches and crystal blue waters on this Caribbean cruise!

DAY 4 – AT SEA (Tues. Feb. 24)

Be sure to take advantage of the many shipboard activities offered all day long and indulge in the many dining choices that are available to you.

DAY 5 – AT SEA (Wed. Feb. 25)

There is so much to see and do on the ship. You can be as busy as you want. If you wish to relax, then grab a book, a drink and admire the beautiful sea views.

DAY 6 – BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (Thurs. Feb. 26)

Although founded by the French in 1627, St. Kitts is a very British paradise where cricket and tea are the norm. The dramatic mixed island landscape is rimmed in gold-sand beaches and dotted with well- preserved plantations left over from when the island was covered with sugar cane.

Shore Excursion Choices (on own): Take a rail tour around the island, do an ATV or jeep tour, visit stunning beaches, tour the oldest rum distillery in the Caribbean, visit Fortress National Park and Gardens, hike into a rainforest, do a coastal cruise, go deep sea fishing, go snorkeling, swim with a dolphin.

DAY 7 – BRIDGETOWN, BARBADOS (Fri. Feb. 27)

The most British of all the Caribbean islands, games of cricket are as common here as the typical island water sports. Visit the third-oldest Parliament in the entire Commonwealth. Stroll the inviting beaches of Carlisle Bay, tour a rum factory, or visit the historical Garrison area. Bridgetown is the only city outside continental North America that George Washington visited. The George Washington House, the actual house where he stayed, is now part of the Garrison Historic Area.

Shore Excursion Choices (on own): Take a coast to coast scenic drive, experience a ride on a submarine, bask in the sun on one of the beautiful beaches, sail on a catamaran and snorkel among sea turtles, board a 4x4 for a scenic ride around the island, take a vintage steam locomotive, visit two serene botanical gardens.

DAY 8 – CASTRIES, ST. LUCIA (Sat. Feb. 28)

A mecca for outdoor enthusiasts with thriving coral reefs and rain forest preserves. Explore the world's only drive-in volcanic crater at Sulfur Springs. Visit the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls and the Morne Coubaril Estate.​

Shore Excursion Choices (on own): Experience a scenic cruise along the coast, embark on a guided island tour, take a Trolley Train and discover St. Lucia's capital, visit Sulphur Springs Park for a mud bath, visit the Caribbean's only 'drive-in' volcano, float down Roseau River on a long bamboo raft, go deep sea fishing, enjoy a Segway adventure, relax at one of the beaches, enjoy a catamaran snorkel and sail tour, visit a rum distillery, experience St. Lucia on an open-top double-decker bus.

DAY 9 – ST. JOHN’S ANTIGUA (Sun. Mar. 1)

Bask in the grand sight of the city's skyline, dominated by the white baroque towers of St. John's Cathedral. Sample local cuisines, visit the Botanical Garden, witness the magnificent Antigua Lighthouse, the historical Fort James and much more as you discover this grand city.

Shore Excursion Choices (on own): Swim and snorkel with stingrays, fly over Antigua in a helicopter, visit Soufriere Hills Volcano on neighbouring Montserrat via helicopter, sail in Antigua, go on a buggy adventure, do a catamaran and lobster lunch cruise, kayak and snorkel off Anitgua's northeastern shore.

DAY 10 – ST. THOMAS, US VIRGIN ISLANDS (Mon. Mar. 2)

The town of Charlotte Amalie has one of the most breathtaking harbours in the world. Once home to pirates of long ago, today visitors find treasures of a different kind, for now beautiful beaches and bountiful duty-free shopping are truly its claim to fame.

Shore Excursion Choices (on own): do a snorkel and beach adventure aboard a Turbo Power Cat, visit Coral World Ocean Park, hike thorugh a tropical forest, power your own pedal boat through turquoise waters, snorkel with turtles in Turtle Cove, visit a local brewery to sample handcrafted beers, relax at the island's beaches, take a scenic drive to see many attractions, take an aerial tram to the top of Paradise Point for spectacular tropical views, take a tour of St. Thomas on an open-air 'safari bus', go on a helmet dive to view fish and corals, swim with sea lions, go scuba diving at a vibrant reef.

DAYS 11, 12 & 13 – AT SEA (Tues. Mar. 3 to Thurs. Mar. 5)

Make sure to take in all the entertainment available on the ship. Get ready for an exhilarating dancing extravaganza at Burn the Floor. Sing along to all the hits at Howl at the Moon piano bar. When the sun goes down, the night heats up on-board Norwegian Breakaway. The ship has enough onboard activities to fill every minute of your cruise. Splash around at their Aqua
Park with Free Fall-the fastest waterslides at sea. Or visit the multi-level Sports Complex and hang with friends on the gravity-defying ropes course. DAY 14 – BACK TO NEW YORK CITY AND THEN DURHAM REGION (Fri. Mar. 6)

Today, we arrive back in New York City. After we disembark, our coach will be there to pick us up and drive us back to Durham Region. We will make regular comfort stops on our way home, with stops for both lunch and dinner. We should arrive in Durham Region around 9:30 pm.
